A Taste of Knitting: My First Sweater 

via ZOOM with The Tea Cozy Yarn Shop

Ready to tackle your first knit sweater? In this class we’ll knit the sweater step by step from gauge swatch, sizing, reading a pattern to magic loop, picking up the stitches and finishing techniques. In our first class we’ll talk all about gauge and sizing, then we’ll cast on at our second class. At the end of this course, you’ll have your first knit sweater.

Skills needed: You should be comfortable with the knit and purl stitch, casting on and binding off, knitting in the round. Familiarity with increases is helpful.

Class Dates:

  • Sundays, September 12 & 19, October 3, 17 & 31, November 14 from 10-11:15am

Fee: $100

Materials: 

  • US #6 circular 29″ or 32″ needles US #8 circular 29″ or 32″ needles. Or size needed to achieve gauge (we’ll go over this in our first class).
  • Locking stitch markers, three different colors if possible, crochet needle or stitch fixer, needle point protectors, waste yarn (yarn scrap in a contrasting color than your sweater yarn), tapestry needle, measuring tape and scissors.

A Taste of Knitting: My First Cowl 

via ZOOM with The Tea Cozy Yarn Shop

Ready to learn to knit? Need a refresher? In this class we’ll learn all the knitting basics: casting on, knitting and purling, binding off plus seaming the finished garment. In three sessions you’ll have your very own chunky cowl, perfect for now!

Class dates:

  • Sundays, September 12, 19 & 26 from 1-2:15pm

OR

  • Wednesdays, November 3, 10 & 17 from 10-11:15am

Fee: $60

Materials:

  • 1 skein of a super bulky yarn and size 15 straight wooden needles (Clover or Crystal Palace are great choices) OR 1 skein of a bulky yarn like Malabrigo Chunky and size 13 straight wooden needles. I suggest you choose a lighter, solid color for this first project. Plus a tapestry needle and 1 locking jumbo stitch marker.
  • Optional supplies: small measuring tape, needle point protectors and scissors
  • The pattern will be emailed one week before class

A Taste of Knitting: My First Hat in the Round 

via Zoom with The Tea Cozy Yarn Shop.

Ready to knit a hat? In this class we’ll learn to knit in the round while reviewing all the basics of knitting: casting on, knitting, purling, decreases, binding off and weaving in ends. In two sessions you’ll have a chunky hat to keep you warm.

Class Dates:

  • Wednesdays, September 29 and October 2 from 10-11:15am

OR

  • Sundays, December 5 & 12 from 10-11:15am

Fee: $50

Materials: 

  • 1 skein bulky yarn, US#13, 16″ circular needle, US#13 double point needles, 6-8 jumbo locking stitch markers and tapestry needle.
  • Optional supplies: small measuring tape, needle point protectors and scissors
  • Pattern will be emailed one week before class.

Cancellation Policy: All class/session sales are final and make ups are not offered unless there are technical difficulties on my end or yours.  If you are unable to attend class, we can reschedule a private make up class at discounted hourly rate of $20/hrIf 2 or less students are signed up for a class, they may be rescheduled or cancelled.
