Description
Play with color and expand your stranded colorwork knitting skills while knitting the Mona Sweater by LE KNIT by Lene Holme Samsøe. In this online class, deepen your colorwork knitting techniques with tips on choosing colors, color dominance and managing multiple balls of yarn. Knitters will also learn the Ladderback Jacquard method for managing floats, a modified dropped sleeve construction and the Italian bind off method. This class is suited to the adventurous beginner or intermediate knitter who has played with stranded colorwork and wants to take it to the next level.
Skills needed:
- You have knit at least one garment and one stranded colorwork project and are confident with knit and purl stitches, knitting in the round, German Short Rows plus casting on and binding off.
Class Dates:
- Online Class: Thursdays, September 17 & 24, October 1, 8 & 22; November 5 & 19; December 3 & 10 from 10-12pm PST.
- Each class will be recorded. The link will be emailed within 24/hr of class.

- Mona Sweater pattern by LE KNIT by Lene Holme Samsøe available the designer’s website or on Ravelry
- There are many yarn options for this pattern. Please refer to the pattern for yarn ideas and quantities. More detailed information will be emailed to registered students.
- US# 6, 16″ and 32” (4.0 mm, 40 and 80 cm) circular needles or size needed to achieve gauge on stockinette fabric
- US #7, 32″ (4.5mm, 80cm)circular needles or size needed to achieve gauge on colorwork fabric
- US# 4, 16″, 32” (3.5mm, 40 and 80 cm) circular needles for neck and hem
- US# 4 (3.5 mm) double pointed or small circular needles if not using magic loop for cuffs
- US# 2.5, 16″ (2mm, 40cm) circular needles for neck
- Stitch markers; locking and fixed in various colors
- Crochet needle or stitch fixer
- Needle point protectors
- Waste yarn (yarn scrap in a contrasting color than your sweater yarn) or stitch holders
- Washi tape
- Tapestry needle
- Measuring tape
- Scissors
Homework: Knit a gauge swatch in the round in stockinette and stranded colorwork using gauge needles. More detailed information will be emailed to registered students prior to start of class.
